Psalm 84 - 1000 other

Can you think of 1000 other places you'd rather be? Than scrubbing the toilet, than sitting in traffic late again, than in you marriage, than at your job, than changing diapers, than in your little house, than at the grocery store for the second time today because the first time you forgot milk. The writer of psalm 84 talks about that there is no other place he'd rather be than in the presence of the Lord. His soul yearns, his heart cries out for the living God. A living God that longs to be with us and who will not withhold any good thing from those whose walk is blameless. But is this more than poetry and another catchy Matt Redman song? Is it just a hope to look forward to in Heaven or can we have this satisfaction here and now? We can't just throw responsibilities out the window to sit and read our Bibles all day, there are toilets that need to be scrubbed, diapers that have to be changed, and you have to earn money to eat somehow. But when you are with Jesus it doesn't matter where you are at. Location doesn't matter if you are where you are suppose to be with the Lord. What you are doing doesn't matter as long as you are doing it with the Lord. It is better to do one thing with Him than 1000 things for yourself. You will find no satisfaction in your job, marriage, friendships, daily tasks, or anything else in life unless it is where and what God has given you. The keys to a blessed and blameless life are unlocked here. Always be with God and continually praise Him, set your heart to seek and pursue Him and trust in Him. There is nothing better, nothing more satisfying than being with God, it should be our single most driving desire. There is no long list of questions for this psalm because there is only one question worth answering right now. Where would you rather be?
